This event has ended.

Show Room presents an exhibition of New York-based artist Thomas Kovachevich entitled Alpenglow.

The exhibition consists of Kovachevich's paintings and sculptures which he refers to as portraits and landscapes. While conceptual and minimal in form, his own description reflects a metaphoric approach when considering depictions, perception and neuropsychology.

Kovachevich's work reflects a diversity of ideas. He is interested in the fine line between realism and abstraction, always playing with metaphors, offering alternative meanings––often ambiguous and open ended.

Alpenglow refers to an optical process that creates glowing colors observed in the sky near mountains. Humidity and temperature can alter the color. It is also known to induce contemplation.

Kovachevich lives and works in New York City. He began his career with exhibitions in New York and Europe in the early 70's while living in Chicago, and has continued to exhibit in galleries and museums here and abroad. Most recently, he has been included in group exhibitions at COCO, Vienna (2011); Elisabeth Ivers Gallery, New York City (2012), and a solo exhibition at Callicoon Fine Arts, New York City, (2011).
