This event has ended.

Junichi Takahashi presents his new photography “NIPPON-JIN” series for the first time in NY, his home town of 20 years. After moving back to Japan with his family, Takahashi has been working extensively on this project to capture what he sees as “Japanese people” opposed to the prototype of stereotypical “Japanese” that others portray and expect to be. To capture the essence of what makes Japanese “Japanese”, Takahashi decided to approach this project by taking hundreds of samples of Japanese being themselves, letting the accumulation of the subject matters form an answer on their own.

Part of the sales of his books will benefit “Backup Center Japan” which is a nonprofit organization Takahashi runs with volunteers that provides logistical support etc. for the Tohoku region that has been suffering from the earthquake and tsunami disaster in 3.11.
