This event has ended.

Kentler International Drawing Space announces that despite Hurricane Sandy, we are opening, as scheduled, the next two-person exhibition: Tamiko Kawata, “Beyond Lines, Beyond Surface” and Joan Grubin “Paper Optics” on Friday Nov. 9 from 6 to 8pm.

Artists Joan Grubin and Tamiko Kawata have new and novel approaches to the use of paper as an art material. Grubin is exploring the contradictions of fragility and strength exemplified by paper. Her elegant works are based on the fine, fugitive effects of color and its reflections. Kawata’s installation makes evocative use of cardboard and redefine this proletarian omnipresent material, taking cardboard out of the realm of the useful into areas of abstraction and philosophy.
