This event has ended.

The youngest of five children, Lino Tagliapietra was born in 1934 in his family's home on the island of Murano.

For many generations the Tagliapietra's had lived a forty minute boat row away on the neighboring island of Burano. His mother Clementina was a lace maker, and his father Albino a fisherman, but times were hard and work on the island was scarce. In 1926 the family relocated to Murano, where Albino found employment in the glass factories which were later to become the focus of his son's life. Today, the little town of Burano is a world renowned tourist destination much admired for its modest but vibrantly colored houses. Recognized as a cultural treasure, the houses of Burano are protected and their unique colors are regulated by the Italian government. The island's rainbow-like town also occupies a special place in Lino's world. His current exhibition “The Colors of Burano” is an homage to the spirit of the island which is vividly reflected in the intense palette of Tagliapietra's amazing glass works.
