This event has ended.

Images, like words, trigger a cultural and emotional knowledge of a shared national ethos. Artists have used this pictorial shorthand—sometimes straightforward, often obliquely—to comment on this country, its people, its political and social goals, its self-image. . . . as apple pie explores this phenomenon through a rotating installation drawn from the Museum’s holdings of works on paper by a diverse group of artists.
