Kari Cholnoky, a Detroit based painter, investigates the psychologies and environments of contemporary youth in her stream of consciousness paintings. By tapping into automatic mental associations, she seeks to avoid rationalizing her surroundings. Cholnoky's paintings, which range widely in size, pervade both mental and personal space to challenge viewers to reexamine their relationships to anxiety, identity, and consumption of information.
