This event has ended.

Please join Gay Men of African Descent (GMAD), the oldest social services organization serving black gay men in New York City, as it celebrates its 25th anniversary at the Schomburg Center. Since 1986, GMAD has served as a center for education, advocacy and social support for black gay men in New York. Over the years many men have attended GMAD’s Friday Night Forums, participated in advocacy initiatives, as well as utilized its wellness programs focusing on HIV/AIDS resources and prevention outreach. The exhibition will highlight milestones in the organization’s history, as well as offer a glimpse of the organization’s activities for a quarter of a century.

The exhibition is Co-Curated by Dr. Kevin McGruder, former Executive Director of GMAD, and current Scholar-in-Residence at the Schomburg Center, and Steven G. Fullwood, Project Director for the Black Gay & Lesbian Archive, Schomburg Center.
