Pace Prints presents an exhibition of new monoprints by Santi Moix, created in the Pace Editions studios in New York.

In the artist's words: This exhibition is a colorful project made up of overlapping forms and lines that end up creating explosions of images that I call 'rippling.' Moix states, Everything started with an explosion. The essence of this project is to frame this explosion on paper... My obligation as an artist is to freeze that instant in time.

These monoprints, created over a four week period with the master printer Jo Watanabe, use the process of screenprinting in a unique manner. Moix drew images directly on the screens and then they were printed in multiple colors to create varying relationships.

Santi Moix's previous project with Pace Prints focused on illustrated scenes from Don Quixote. A group of twelve etchings was created as a portfolio, and a smaller group of six was hand-colored with the bright explosions that reappear in this new body of monoprints.

In 2011, Moix had an exhibition of his illustrations for Huckleberry Finn in Barcelona. These images were published in a Spanish language edition of Huckleberry Finn. Recently, his wall drawing based on Huckleberry Finn was exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum.

Santi Moix was born in 1960 in Barcelona, Spain, and came to New York in the early 1990s. He lives in New York with his family and continues to be an active part of the Catalan art world. He is a skilled draughtsman and works in a wide variety of print media, in addition to his activities as a painter, sculptor, and ceramicist.
