This event has ended.

This exhibition is a retrospective of two decades of art, which includes selections related to the art featured in my book An Artist's America, along with newer works that were created in the six years since the book's completion in 2005. It also features 21 Flag Salute, a special "exhibition within an exhibition" of flag collages created over the past 15 years.

In addition to the wonderful, interesting and meaningful things that I have thus far discovered in this world, I am inspired by the art, writings, business activities and stories of many characters in history: Vincent van Gogh; Pablo Picasso; Claude Monet; Henri Matisse; René Magritte; Keith Haring; Andy Warhol; Abraham Lincoln; William Shakespeare; Ben & Jerry; Famous Amos (and other social entrepreneurs); John Keats; Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead; the Beatles; Mozart; Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young; Charlie Parker; Miles Davis; John Coltrane; and such films as The Wizard of Oz and Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

I am also driven by the need to use landfill materials in my work in a real and practical way. These materials are briefly used by consumers, only to sit in a landfill for years, requiring a tremendous amount of energy to be reused. I enjoy being some sort of solution for this long-term environmental issue.

It's really fun to create art, as I've found lately when making collages. I believe art is important; it somehow gives my life a deeper meaning. This inspires me to work diligently and constantly be on alert for interesting ideas and images that I can use in future creations!
