This event has ended.

Crossing art presents our participation in this year’s Curate NYC. Curate NYC is a series of juried exhibitions and an online platform that exists to heighten exposure and opportunities for New York City’s visual artists. Each year, five galleries are selected, one from each borough, to curate and host an exhibition of submitted work selected from artists living in New York. CROSSING ART has been chosen as the representative gallery for Queens.

A place like no other, New York City has always been a celebration of the individual: Individual cultures, neighborhoods, languages, experiences and personalities. Every area provides a Space, where in that crowd of humanity, the City itself becomes it’s own character in the story. Whether in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, Brooklyn’s DUMBO, or Main Street Flushing – the Space has a personality that is as changing and diverse as the where the people dwell. Poets, painters, sculptors, performers and filmmakers - New York artists have always been the voices of this city. Sometimes that voice is the whisper of feet in a rain-soaked alley or the symphonic shout of the skyline. More often, it is a just a statement saying, “I am right HERE, I am right NOW, I am this City!”

From over 1500 entries this year, CROSSING ART has assembled a collection of works that not only showcase the diversity and vibrancy of New York’s emerging and established artists, but also illustrates this indelible link between the Individual and the City. This exhibition will feature 20 artists working in a variety of media including painting, photography, sculpture, installation and video.

Curated by Patrick Regan and Maria Boobis.
