This event has ended.

Marking the culmination of year-long thesis investigations, this show encapsulates a breadth of topics that reflect a dialogue about where the field of industrial design is going. In a rapidly changing and ever-connected world, designers are taking on roles far beyond aesthetic styling and product design. Nearly two dozen diverse thesis topics on view aim to expand the definition of industrial design, exploring everything from the possibility of superhuman powers to the future of male contraception. Including environments, systems, and interactions, Object Resonance transcends the notion of object to encompass the public, personal, material, and conceptual worlds in which we live.

Object Resonance will be on view at The powerHouse Arena in DUMBO, Brooklyn from Tuesday, May 3 through Sunday, May 8. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, May 7 from 6-8 pm. The highly collaborative, diverse studio group that makes up Pratt Institute's graduating class of 2011 is excited to share their ideas on the future of design. The exhibition covers five themes relevant to design and living today: material and form; health and body; mind and spirit; personal and conceptual; and, public and cultural. Please join powerHouse and Pratt Institute to witness a resonance of ideas and experiences that both embrace and transcend designed objects.
