Hendershot Gallery presents "The Cow & Angels", the first New York show exhibiting the works of London artists Issa Salliander and Richard Starbuck. Friends since their art school days, this is the first time their works will be shown together.

Issa Salliander's work explores the drama and humor found in the battle between good versus evil, and the inherent comedy and absurdity that straddle the fine line between life and death. Through the calculated ambiguity of her subjects, Salliander makes her audience question their preconceived notions of the two dichotomies. Inspired by late 60s and early 70s psychedelic rock sensibilities and conspiracy theories, her paintings are at once irreverent and nostalgic. This exhibition features two works from the post-apocalyptic fantasy series Brand New Angel. Also included are the UFO-influenced It Came Out Of The Sky II and the ape-epic The Study For Fallen Monkeys.

Richard Starbuck is a collector of the mysterious and the strange, and his favorite hunting ground is America. "I have always looked to America for strange stories. Throughout the years I have listened to US radio shows like Coast To Coast AM, and in turn their fascinating subjects have crept into my work." Focusing on the phenomena of UFOs and cow mutilation, Starbuck's work is a personal snapshot of American counterculture through a psychedelic British monoscope.
