Curated by Jee Won Kim and Juan Puntes

"Last might, in a breakthrough, three of us built a large bathymetric model of Jamaica Bay and with pigment and suds proved that the runway extension at JFK, along with another infrastructure-related change to the seafloor, has had a huge and disastrous influence on circulation in Jamaica Bay.

For our performance, we will be testing--live, in front of the public--whether a certain spiral-ramp cut in front of the runway extension will correct the circulation problem.

We will also be gouging out still more of the runway extension to see what was the circulatory condition before the runway extension, built for the Concorde in 1970.

Thus, we test in full view our proposition that Jamaica Bay most of all needs a major change in the JFK-related structures. Thus too, we respond to the intentions of a multi-government attempt at a comprehensive solution to the problems of Jamaica Bay.

This area is the biggest coastal ecosystem on the East Coast, and ecological conditions there impact directly on the deep-sea flows from the Labrador Current of the Northeast Seaboard to... nonstop... Antarctica."
