This event has ended.

As a contracted arts service vendor with the NYC Department of Education, the Children’s Museum of the Arts brings innovative creative activities that support classroom curricula to children ages 3-16 into New York City Public and Charter Schools. Over semester-to-yearlong residencies, CMA’s Teaching Artists foster a culture of art-making and art appreciation within partner schools by introducing children to professional art-making techniques and encouraging creative self-expression.

Public Display showcases students’ original interpretations of contemporary and master fine artists, as well as explorations in sculpture and the art of stop-motion animation. Viewed in its totality, the exhibition offers a composite of NYC neighborhoods and an emerging generation of its art enthusiasts. As individual pieces, each reflects the unique energy of the participating school and its diverse community.

Exhibiting artists hail from PS 347 American Sign Language and English Lower School, PS 124 The Yung Wing School, PS 130 The Hernando DeSoto School, PS 158 The Bayard Taylor School, PS 3 Charrette School, Kings Collegiate Charter School, The Girls Preparatory Charter Middle School, The Renaissance Charter School, The Urban Assembly New York Harbor School, and MS 413 School of the Future.

Animated Films from CMA’s School Partnerships may be viewed on the CMA Blog by searching under the “Partnerships” category.
