To celebrate the sunlight and joy that springtime brings, we will be opening a light-hearted show of prints, independently published magazines and zines, limited-run cards, and other ephemera by some of the artists we love. As the cherry blossoms are sprouting, gallery hanahou’s space will transform into a bright and colorful, pop-up boutique filled with our curated selection of items. Stop by and pick up some unique magazines to read in the park, find some cute artist postcards to send out to friends, or choose a bright new print to freshen up a room for the new season.

APAK Aaron Piland and Ayumi Kajikawa Piland are the fantastical magical duo known as APAK. They are a childlike husband and wife collaborative art team who live among the fury conifer giants in a little cottage on the outskirts of Portland, Oregon. They create artwork together as a way exploring the beauty, mystery, and magic of life as well as expressing their love for life and each other.

Kirsten Ulve Illustrator Kirsten Ulve hails from the town of Dubuque, Iowa. Her obsessions with fireworks, puppets, discotheques, as well as a previous career as a graphic designer have all contributed to the style and mood of her work. Her happy clientele includes the The New Yorker, InStyle Magazine, Hasbro, Avon, Target, Entertainment Weekly, and Palty of Japan. She has exhibited her work in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Tokyo, and is a regular contributor to Glamour Magazine, Boston Magazine, and Los Angeles Magazine.

Lisa Grue Classically trained illustrator Lisa Grue’s style is a peculiar approach to pop art, contrasting innocent motifs with shocking messages (and vice versa). Her pieces are at once playful, childish, and awakening. Lisa’s clients include Nylon Magazine, Sirene, Shape, Costume, Eurowoman, Bride to Be Australia, Wunderwear, Charlotte Sparre, DesignMatters, and many more. Her native Denmark realizes her talent, and she has been honored with a number of large talent grants from art and design foundations over the years, including The Danish Arts Foundation, Danish Crafts, The Danish National bank’s Anniversary Foundation, The BG Foundation, and The National Workshop for Art and Crafts.

Marcus Oakley London based illustrator Marcus Oakley’s work explores music, childhood innocence, and the rural. Oakley’s work aims to make people feel good, slow down, and enjoy his daydreams. His clients include Paul Smith, Levis, Custo Barcelona, Time Out Magazine, The Guardian, GQ, The New York Times Magazine, Parents, Random House, Kellogs, and more.

Regina Heinlein Regina is a Berlin based illustrator. Her work includes hand drawings, gouache or acrylic paintings, as well as mixed media collages. She especially likes to work on abstract topics concerning human evolution and she loves projects where she can fully express her creativity and fantasy, overstepping the borders of her familiarity. In addition to her regular work as an illustrator, Regina performs live for different brands worldwide as a sand-painting artist.

Samantha Hahn Samantha’s illustration is recognizable by its delicate pen work, dreamy colored inks and watercolor, and feminine subjects. Her work has been featured in various magazines, look books, campaigns, books, and can be found everywhere from t-shirts to dinnerware to wall graphics. Her clients include Glamour, Marie Claire, Bust, Stella Magazine, Barnes & Noble, Hallmark, Galison, Te Neues, American Greetings, 2k by Gingham, Victoria’s Secret, Saatchi & Saatchi, St. Martin’s Press, and more. Samantha is inspired by vintage fashion photography, nature, and urban landscapes.
