This event has ended.

Tony Soulié is an abstract French painter with an instinctual and gestural brushstroke. Soulié is an established artist working as a painter, photographer, installation artist, and writer. His art is inspired by life around him and “the emotions felt at the sight of the universe”. His life experiences are based in his travels, venturing to the far corners of remote deserts, to active volcanoes, the sea shores and large cities of the world. Through his explorations Soulié “is always looking for the idea, the spark, always trying to confront the material world and the physical substance as well as trying to decipher the signs, the ideograms.”
Soulié often combines black and white photography with inks, pigments and metal powders to create his large paintings that exemplify an exotic vision of the world. His work reflects his own existence and passions; he seamlessly intertwines life experiences with comprehensive art.

Soulie had a classical upbringing. Born in Paris in 1955, he studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Ecole des Arts Appliqués. After working in theater, dance, and photography, he turned to painting choosing a path of abstraction. His first personal exhibition was organized in 1977 in Switzerland. Since this first exhibition he has participated in over 200 exhibitions throughout Europe, the United States, Latin America, and Japan. Today Soulie’s work is present in both public and private collections that include The Modern Art Museum (Paris) and La Villette. In 2009 a large retrospective exhibition was organized at Grognard (Rueil Malmaison) celebrating his many achievements.
