Orchard Windows Gallery presents “I’m having trouble cutting this ballerina”, a solo exhibition by Jamie Martinez. After carefully searching for models, Jamie finally found his muse in this Italian ballerina and quickly started to work on this collection. After taking over 500 photos of her in his private studio, Jamie handpicked 8 poses that would eventually become the final collection. The painting technique used by Jamie Martinez is called Triangulism; which deconstructs the image by using geometric triangles, and by process of elimination, only its core triangles are left to show its true meaning, form and structure. The beauty and contrast that a ballerina gives is unmatchable, and as a figurative painter, there is no bigger challenge than that. From the beginning, until the end of the painting process, Jamie was having trouble breaking the painting into triangles, which is what he is known for. He took his triangulism a step further and broke the painting into even more triangles. Jamie will also be showing his new street story board photographs that are Polaroid inspired.

Visual artist, Jamie Martinez, moved to Florida at the age of 12 from his hometown of Cali, Colombia. After attending Miami International University of Art and Design and receiving the prestigious Hispanic Designer's scholarship, he moved to New York to pursue his Bachelor's degree (F.I.T.), and to follow his dream in the Visual Arts.
