This event has ended.

The School of Art at The Cooper Union and Creative Time are hosting the kick off rally for Teach 4 Amerika, presented by Creative Time. The Bruce High Quality Foundation (BHQF) is returning to Cooper Union's Great Hall—a beacon of social justice—to launch their Teach 4 Amerika tour, a five-week, 11-city, coast-to-coast road trip that crosses state lines to inspire and enable local art students to define the future of their own educational experience. Traveling the byways of America in a limousine painted as a school bus, BHQF will visit university art departments, art schools, art institutions, and alternative spaces across the nation, bringing together concerned educators, artists, arts administrators, and—most important—students to brainstorm on the future of art schools. For more than 150 years, Cooper Union has provided an exceptional core curriculum in the fine arts at no tuition cost to its students. Selecting The Cooper Union, a college known for its revolutionary model of higher education and its historic Great Hall, is the ideal launch for the Teach 4 Amerika tour. The BHQF also operates an unaccredited, free art school, The Bruce High Quality Foundation University, which they founded in 2009 in answer to their own question of how to imagine a sustainable alternative to professionalized art education.

The Bruce High Quality Foundation, the official arbiter of the estate of Bruce High Quality, is dedicated to the preservation of the legacy of the late social sculptor, Bruce High Quality. In the spirit of the life and work of Bruce High Quality, we aspire to invest the experience of public space with wonder, to resurrect art history from the bowels of despair, and to impregnate the institutions of art with the joy of man's desiring.
