"Painted Pictures" explores the oblique and unexpected connections that take place in thinking about painting and photography together, to see how--if possible --the selection of works in the show can point to ideas and thoughts that describe furtive aspects of their relationship. Comprising works from six artists--Kamrooz Aram, Nancy De Holl, Emily Do, Sam Falls, Adam Henry, and Mamie Tinkler--working in disparate trajectories and approaches, "Painted Pictures" is less about a defined curatorial thread than about generating torsion between what is photographic and painterly, giving way to alternate considerations of the gestures of painting and photographic seeing.
