This event has ended.

Steve Heller is a self-taught artist, woodworker, sculptor, furniture designer, car builder, inventor and the subject of the documentary "Heller On Wheels." He is a rare artist who merges industrial design and fine art with humor in a way that is distinctly his own.

On display for the Lowdown Hudson Blues Festival are two of Heller's "Roadhouse" wonders: The Bubble Car (2003), which amazingly started out as a 1948 Plymouth 4-door sedan, and Little Pink (1991), an entire 1954 Caddy with 66.6% of the original removed. The third piece is the Stratocruiser (2002), fabricated from the rear quarter-panels of a 1953 Pontiac, quite literally a "Fender" guitar.

Heller's work has been seen by huge crowds at venues as diverse as the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles and the New York International Auto Show. Heller's custom cars are sought-after and world-famous. His wildly innovative automotive creations have claimed many trophies and accolades; recently the "Marquis De Soto" won The New York Times Collectible Car of the Year Award.
