Bold Hype Gallery presents 'Size Matters' new large and small works by Rafael Santiago.
Rafael Santiago is a Brooklyn based artists who creates fun, soulful, and animated portraits through a unique method of using a combination of micron pens, markers, water colors, dyes, and inks.
'Size Matters' is Rafael's 3rd solo show with Bold Hype Gallery, and this time he will be creating some of his largest and smallest pieces to date.
"My new artwork for "Size Matters," focuses on portraits of icons, friends and interesting people that I've run into on the streets of New York. My drawings have a subtle sense of humor, I like exploring and mixing mediums to bring out the spirit of my subject. My technique amplifies this sensibility.
Some of the portraits in the show are drawn on "rolling papers," roughly 1" x 2", these super tiny portraits include images of Willie Nelson, Danny Trejo and Jeff Bridges. The "Size Matters" show will also showcase my ability to work very large. There will be portraits of subjects on wood panel as well as large works on paper measuring in at 5' x 5'.
