This event has ended.

"The photographs by Tibo of people and buildings seen since 9/11 in New York show the strength and resilience of our city. Our lives intersected that day, and the strands woven in Tibo’s narrative show why New York survived the attack and how we have been building remarkable new structures that gesture to the future.

New York, the most diverse and creative place in the United States, continues to provide opportunities for people from all over the world. We are all New Yorkers - whether from Afghanistan, Austria, Egypt, France or Sierra Leone. Now, ten years after, we live in a place defined by new challenges and superlative architecture. What we have seen and done since 9/11 is evoked by Tibo in ways that combine remembrance and aspiration.”

“I was in the Himalayas when it happened, four or five days-walk away from any TV or computer. So, for me 9/11 was 9/26. I remember my Sherpa listening to a radio, hacked on the neck of a mountain at 5800 m of altitude. They spoke about U.S. airstrikes and the beginning of a war against the United States, but nothing seemed really serious to me. Fifteen days after 9/11, when I got back to Kathmandu, I was looking at the video on the web, but I did not really connect what happened 7000 miles away from Nepal. I had to come back to New York to get the depth of what happened.”
