Silvia likes to explore emotions and aspects of the human psyche and fill them in with the colors and details of her personal life. Though our fascination with our hidden qualities sometimes reveals dark and primitive aspects that can be frightening and confusing it ultimately becomes a humbling experience that teaches compassion, tolerance and empathy.
Silvia uses inexpensive (or free) materials since it allows her to make more art without having a lot of money. She says working with empty bottles was a lot of fun and a constant reminder of the great wealth of beauty that's available to us and that we take for granted.
Some of the things that Silvia feels influence her work are toys, children's books, folktales, comic books, and mythology.
