This event has ended.

The Ernest Rubenstein Gallery and the Educational Alliance Art School are pleased to present a group show titled “Permanent Vacation.” Using the title of Jim Jarmusch’s first film as a point of reference, the exhibition brings together works by a broad range of artists, including students and teachers of the art school, as well as emerging and established artists, in order to offer a diverse group of artworks that develop from a space of wandering and wonder to depict other worlds and unusual exchanges.

The show’s title calls up a kind of menacing fantasy space, where alienated characters attempt to map out meaning in a web of chance encounters and interactions. The works that form the body of the show offer a variety of responses and approaches to the theme, both sublime and banal, of infinite absence.
