This event has ended.

Mexican artist Andrés Basurto's glass mosaic sculptures deal with the act of construction through the action of destruction. Using shards from glass bottles that at one time held wine and beer, Basurto molds the raw material into specific shapes that evoke the human skull and skeleton as a container of the soul.
Mixing together different influences from the Spanish Baroque to Mexican popular culture, Basurto’s sculptures represent the essential and primitive human desire to preserve and hold life together with the inutile need to control death, making evident the fragility of our existence.
