"Convergence" Exhibition
Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition
This event has ended.
On May 7, over 200 artists will be converging in Red Hook for the opening of the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition's Spring Pier Art Show.
Convergence in Red Hook will exhibit 1000 pieces of new art in all media. The show's co-chairs, Anna Hagen and Therese Urban, have created an exciting exhibition of new techniques, reinterpretations and innovative collaborations between diverse artists.
Opening day festivities include a Meet the Artists reception from 1 Ð 6PM, with live music by Scott Fagan and The MAAC Island Band. Self-described as a band with swagger, they promise to "tear things up."
A series of live acoustic musical performances of all genres, BWAC's popular "UnPlugged in Red Hook" sessions will again take place every Sunday at 3PM during the run of the show. Click here for the performance calendar!
"Convergence is a great opportunity for people to see the new work that artists are doing, and to acquire it at a reasonable price," said John Strohbeen, BWAC's President. "It is high-quality work and a great way to start an art collection, to find a very special birthday, or a last-minute Mothers Day present."
Red Hook businessman Greg O'Connell and the O'Connell Organization, the guiding light of the Red Hook Renaissance, have donated the exhibition space for the last 19 years. Since BWAC started showing in Red Hook in 1992, the area has blossomed into a destination for people interested in art, dining, bar-hopping, and shopping for all sorts of things. With a billion dollar view of the Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor, the steady influx of new businesses, restaurants, bars and artists, Red Hook is embracing its rich history. Come enjoy the special texture of Red Hook !
