This event has ended.

New Yorkers could witness the emergence of the next Andy Warhol or Sylvia Plath next month when Arts World Financial Center hosts a two-part tribute to current and past winners of the prestigious national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

From June 1-19, the ART.WRITE.NOW. National Exhibition will take over the Courtyard Gallery with an exhibition of outstanding work by the country’s top creative teens. The exhibit includes photography, sculpture, poetry, film, painting, fashion, drawing, short stories, video game designs, and more.

In conjunction with the main exhibit, ART.WRITE.NOW. Atelier will present six Awards alumni, emerging NYC-based artists, at work in a storefront in the venue’s Winter Garden, where the artists will create new work in full view of visitors.

When: ART.WRITE.NOW. National Exhibition:
June 1–19, Tuesday–Sunday from 12:00pm–4:00pm
ART.WRITE.NOW. Atelier:
June 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, from 12:00pm –4:00pm

These past and present winners follow in the footsteps of Andy Warhol, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford, John Baldessari, Philip Pearlstein, Sylvia Plath, Zac Posen, and Joyce Carol Oates, who all won the Award when they were in high school.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, founded in 1923 and administered by the nonprofit Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, is the oldest and most prestigious recognition program for student achievement in the visual and literary arts in the United States. Arts World Financial Center is New York City’s largest year-round showcase for free visual and performing arts.

Continuing Arts World Financial Center’s longstanding tradition of revealing the artistic process to the public, ART.WRITE.NOW. Atelier, presented in a Winter Garden storefront, features the Scholastic Awards alums who are among New York’s most talented young artists, producing new works of art both as individuals and as a creative collective, contributing to a group canvas.
