This event has ended.

"We are so happy and honored to invite you for the TSURU Project's first Tanabata Festival (Japanese Star Festival) at Tenri Cultural Institute near Union Square on August 6th, Saturday.

With your generous help, we have collected and made more than 3,000 beautiful origami tsuru through our origami workshops since March 11 - after devastating earthquake in Japan. In this very special Tanabata festival, we're showing large ornaments decorated with origami tsuru you made - these really are one-of-a-kind and heartwarming ornaments.

TSURU Project has a dream – our dream is to recreate the Sendai Tanabata Festival in New York City. The Sendai Tanabata Festival is held every summer in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, one of the cities hit by the recent earthquake and tsunami. Because of the catastrophe that hit the region, the TSURU Project would like to send our wishes and encouragement by organizing our version of Tanabata festival in New York in August 6th, the same day of the Sendai Tanabata Festival in Japan.

Our dream is coming true with all of your support!

Please join us to celebrate for Wish Come Tsuru - Tanabata Festival in NY
We look forward to seeing you!

Love,

TSURU Project
(Aya, Fumiha, Makiko, Mayumi, Miki, Miwa, Sayaka, Yoko, Yuko, Yuri)"
