This event has ended.

‘Epic Recordings’ and ‘Rosebud’ are the photographs of Jimmy Fountain and Audrey Baschet. Jimmy has worked at a studio at Madarts for 4 years while Audrey is a guest of the group who lives and works in the South of France.

The work in the show "Epic Recordings" includes several different bodies of work presented in a format that draws connections to series of seemingly different photos. This is not a survey of the artists work but a selection that recontextualizes the photographs and draws contrasts and connections at the same time. Included in the show are works from the "Points of Interest" series, pictures of various "Points of Interest" from across the United States concentrating on the minute detail of the landscape. The "Illuminations" that deals directly with sources of light. The "Epic Recordings" series that gives the show it’s name by referencing the nature of photography to record, and in this case, on an epic scale. Jimmy Fountain is an Artist/Photographer who grew up in North Carolina and is now living and working in New York City.

Audrey Baschet's photographs of Africa capture the beauty, the wonder and some of the other-worldly elements of the spirit of the continent. Rosebud refers to the similar qualities conjured by Orsen Welles' Xanadu. The majesty and wonder that Kane was trying to capture, infected by a disquieting darkness. It is all there in Baschet's images. She is regularly drawn from her native France back to Africa-mesmerized by it's vast beauty. But the intangible veneer of foreboding is inescapable. It surfaces in each photograph, making the love of the place as much an addiction as a passion.
