Charles Bank Gallery presents British artist, Barnaby Hosking's first solo show in the United States. For this show, Barnaby Hosking has created work that transcends the normal boundaries between art and objects. By playing with surfaces, space, and light as well as its absence, Hosking manages to challenge our perceptions of the role of art both manifestly and aesthetically. When we encounter the work we do not only experience the object itself, but we partake in the journey that brought it forward to us - a dialogue between 'Being here' and 'Being there'. There is a very real sense of traveling or the nomadic in the work on a metaphysical level. This is acted out simultaneously throughout Hosking's creative process, from the moment when he journeys through nature until he places the work in his gallery exhibitions. Rather than being divisive, Hosking combines this contradiction and sees it as an inherent part of our human experience.
