This event has ended.

Writ small is an exhibition and performance series featuring new work by Elizabeth Bisbing. Bisbing, whose roots and intention are derived from painting, uses hand-painted paper to construct intimate collages. Using the narrative of a character called “Little Betty Jane”, Bisbing fabricates wonderful vignettes based on Art historical backdrops, religious
iconography, contemporary culture and personal experience. Among the work found in the exhibition is the “Calamity Series” which addresses themes of threatened innocence as little Betty Jane confronts “monsters” in the form of giant fish, tsunamis, dragons and snakes. The series that began with black and white collages, now encompasses color, printed matter and animation is both humorous and harrowing as the protagonist repeatedly battles these embellished evils.
