Keegan McHargue "Light Sleeper"
Fredericks & Freiser Gallery
This event has ended.
Fredericks & Freiser presents "Light Sleeper", a solo exhibition of new works on paper by Keegan McHargue. Exchanging his narrative themes for a world dominated by abstract notions, McHargue tunes us into the primacy of the senses and the underlying current of perception.
Line and color entangle to create a space that is neither flat nor completely three-dimensional. Though McHargue admits transparency, illusions emerge. Vacillating between hypnotizing depth and utter flatness, spatial relations assume a bewitching vertigo. Rub your eyes and echoes of culture’s collective consciousness come flooding in. The wide variety is purposeful, inclusive, and ultimately contemporary. McHargue’s installation clusters the works to reverberate off one another. Felt in distinct effect, McHargue’s abstractions yield a visual language that is at once sweeping and singular.
