This event has ended.

Orchard windows gallery presents “Guilt” a solo exhibition by Jamie Martinez. Guilt explores the obsession that religion has with controlling nudity and sexual expression in women. Jamie believes in the celebration of nudity and its crucial part of making a simple connection, a permanent and honest example of the individual. Nudity and sexual confidence create magic that not only translates to the image, but also relates to the actual thought process involved in making the decision to pose nude, based on your own believes in religion, or culture. Religion is taught early and it will always affect the decision making process, by putting a title on it of right or wrong. There is no right and wrong in nudity or creative sexual expression. This is what you were born with and this is what you will die with - get used to it!

The collection consists of 6 paintings, a photograph, and a short film called “Anathema” by Kaliptus. The painting technique used by Jamie Martinez is called Triangulism; which deconstructs the image by using geometric triangles, and by process of elimination, only its core triangles are left to show its true meaning, form and structure. Jamie’s process includes extensive photo shoots of nude models, then he selects the best six images that expressed his visual message and then he paints them using Triangulism.
Visual artist, Jamie Martinez, moved to Florida at the age of 12 from his hometown of Cali, Colombia. After attending Miami International University of Art and Design and receiving the prestigious Hispanic Designer's scholarship, he moved to New York to pursue his Bachelor's degree (F.I.T.), and to follow his dream in the Visual Arts. Not one to follow others, Jamie’s work clearly expresses his exceptional view at life and art. He has shown all over New York City, Miami and recently in Canada.
