Kidd Yellin Gallery presents Jason Sho Green: I Will Always Make Time for You in the Project Room.

Jason Sho Green's work explores the way in which time and experience shapes memory. This series of work recalls childhood visits to Sendai, Japan and attempts to rebuild that world through the filter of adulthood. Layers of memory are interpreted into layers of techniques, alternately carving into the wood panel and painting thick impastos that project out into space, with thin glazes and drawing mingling between the layers.

Green asks the viewer to weigh the personal experience of remembering and re-creating the past versus the "reality" of history. Rather than building a seamless world, the focus is on the beauty within those seams.

Jason Sho Green was born in Sendai, Japan in 1979. He recently received his MFA from the New York Academy of Art and earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington. This is Jason's first solo show in New York and follows a number of group shows in New York and around the world. He will concurrently have a painting in the NYAA Summer Exhibition at Flowers Gallery in Chelsea (529 W 20th St, 3rd Floor), on view from June 23 - August 6.
