Les Joynes Exhibition
532 Gallery Thomas Jaeckel
This event has ended.
In his paintings Les Joynes fuses artifacts of memory he collects from imagined topographies. His current ring paintings are baroque and rococo gateways inspired by Alain Resnais’ 1961 film Last Year in Marienbad. For him the circular motifs were “structures that floated to the surface in my memory like life preservers floating in after a storm at sea”. Joynes work has exhibited at Amotgard, Forde, Norway; Katherine Nash Gallery, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis; Michael Steinberg Fine Art, New York; Sandra Bürgel Gallery, Berlin; Nylon, London; New General Catalog, New York; Mizuma Gallery, Tokyo; Espace 21/ Norimatsu Museum, Japan and The Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney.
