This event has ended.

Presented in a three-day show at Momenta Art's new space, in the interim between its raw state and a renovation before programming resumes in the fall, the photographs of J. Pasila and Peter Scott convey an interest in the relationship between infrastructure and temporality. While Pasila's images catalogue the residual evidence of apparently blank studio walls, Scott's photographs of luxury condo construction sites document the disorienting nature of a built environment in "transition." Although the appearance of each body of work suggests very different sensibilities, the stillness in both implies a preoccupation with the ongoing interplay between physical site and displacement.

J Pasila is a Brooklyn based artist working with photography, installation and drawing. She's a graduate of the Kunstakadamie Dusseldorf (Department of Architecture and Department of Video). J's work has been shown in Europe and North America, notably in the Chautauqua 44th National Exhibition juried by Robert Storr. Recent group exhibitions include Picture No Picture at carriage trade in Manhattan, and A place to which we can come, at the Convent of St. Cecilia in Brooklyn, curated by Serra Sabuncuoglu. J is a fellow of the Macdowell Colony, VCCA and this summer will attend residencies in Finland and Iceland.

Peter Scott is an artist, writer, and curator, and director of the non-profit gallery carriage trade. He's exhibited widely in the U.S. and Europe, including one-person exhibitions in the U.K., Holland, France, and Belgium. Reviews on his projects have appeared in the New York Times, the Boston Globe, the New Yorker, NYFA Current, artnet, Artscribe, artforum, among others. He has received two NYFA grants, and fellowships at MacDowell Colony and the Millay Colony. His work was recently shown in Captivity at Fordham University, Signs on the Road, at the Curatorial Research Lab (at Winkleman Gallery), and will be included in Blind Faith at NP Contemporary Art Center next month.
