Bertrand Delacroix Gallery presents a group exhibition featuring Beate Bilkenroth, Beth Carter, Joseph Hart, and Jérôme Lagarrigue.
These works encompass the space between dreams and reality, where each artist explores in different forms and media.

Beate Bilkenroth depicts the Eastern Bloc architecture of her childhood years in Eastern Germany, painting the memories of these buildings whilst emphasizing the life within them. Bilkenroth brings attention to the cultural habitat of her childhood that will be a distant memory as more of these blocks are demolished and replaced with new architecture in Dresden where she lives.

The humanistic minotaur sculptures and fantasy driven drawings of Beth Carter explore what may seem as the other side of the looking glass, but the strength of these creatures in common postures gives a humane feeling to the work. Applying classical techniques to mythological forms, the viewer is drawn in by the familiarity of the placement and humanistic composure of these sculptures.

Joseph Hart explores the unraveling of objects in abstraction, varying controls, the hard and soft form, and applying infinite approaches to the defined space of a piece of paper. He is influenced by the density and space of sculptures and creates a diverse set of marks and movements to the two-dimensional surface in a force to expose the objects of his surrounding reality.

Jérôme Lagarrigue vibrantly highlights figures in large portraits; his fascination for what lies in the depths of a man’s glance is a driving force in his work. He presents an intimate depiction of his model through four works, each exploring the border of realism and abstraction. His use of bright colors and vigorous movement gives an unknowing quality to his common subject.
