School of Visual Arts (SVA) presents "Bryan Krueger: Mejor Vista General," the 2011 Tierney Grant in Photography exhibition. Krueger (BFA 2011 Photography) is this year's recipient of the Tierney Grant in Photography, under the mentorship of faculty member Jerry Vezzuso. The Tierney Grant in Photography is given annually to a promising BFA Photography candidate at SVA to encourage a new body of photographic work within a year of graduation.

This year's exhibition will also feature work by the 2011 Nominees for the Tierney Grant. All but one of the nominees are 2011 graduates of the BFA Photography Department. They are: Lilli Albin, Roberto Bermejo, Margaret Cepis, Matthew Cetta, Bobby Doherty, Lindsey Elsaesser, Christopher Frump Ernst, current student Georgi Georgiev, Dever Hoffman, Eric Kaczmarczyk, Derek Kalisher, Marko Kovacevic, Dawn Philips, Marissa Plant, Ashlei Quinones, Samantha Tuminaro, and Steven Warren.

Mejor Vista General is Krueger's current work in progress and is inspired by the generational modes of representation used to document and depict the areas in and around Krueger's native California. Krueger combines traditional imagery with found material from both digital and physical archives, referencing the multifaceted representations of California over generations, from pristine Western Frontier to modern-day tourist destination. Krueger's compositions play with time and space in relation to the landscape, at times creating a completely new and unique geography.
