This event has ended.

Adam Baumgold Gallery presents an exhibition by Seth of work from his new book "The Great Northern Brotherhood of Canadian Cartoonists" that will premiere at the gallery. The exhibition will include the complete set of 100 drawings, paintings on paper, as well as related artifacts and ephemera. In The Great Northern Brotherhood of Canadian Cartoonists, Seth offers a rich and varied study of Canadian cartoonists, both real and fictional. Seth uses bold black lines and gray ink washes, occasionally with watercolor, to create his dramatically lit scenes. As the title suggests, the series has a distinctly Canadian flavor; mounted police, igloos, dog-sleds, pine trees, bears, and British soldiers all make appearances.

Seth is the author of It's a Good Life, If You Don't Weaken, Clyde Fans, Wimbledon Green, and George Sprott. Seth won the Doug Wright Award for best book in 2005 for Clyde Fans, and again in 2010 for George Sprott. George Sprott was published weekly in the Funny Pages of The New York Times Sunday Magazine in 2006. Seth is also an award winning book designer and he regularly contributes drawings to The New Yorker. This will be Seth’s second solo exhibition at the gallery. Seth lives and works in Guelph, Ontario.
