This event has ended.

Kate Werble Gallery presents River / Stream / In-Between, Joel Kyack’s first solo exhibition in New York City.

Without particular allegiance to material, Kyack re-examines the fountain as a performative sculpture that addresses the base and inescapable chaos of the world.

The five sculptures and one video in this exhibition utilize flowing water as a literal and figurative line, portraying the body and nature as slaves to systems of fluids. Brutish and energetic, Kyack's work uses common objects that have been repurposed, altered and combined to examine a vision of the body and how it fits – and fails to fit – into a world of objects and desires all vying for attention.

Joel Kyack was born in Abington, Pennsylvania in 1972. He received his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1995 and his MFA from the University of Southern California in 2008.
