"Appetite" Exhibition
Gallery Henoch
This event has ended.
This show assembles works with a distinct dialogue about food. The paintings picture chefs in the kitchen, unusual still lifes (depicting trompe l’oiel fruits, vegetables and candy), and various lush farms and gardens where items might be harvested. The exhibition highlights nine artists including John Evans, Gary Godbee, Bernardino Luino, Greg Haynes, Janet Rickus, Eric Wert and Eric Zener.
Appetite Exhibition Highlights:
In Bernardino Luino’s STANDING CHEF a culinary artist stands before a lone, empty table...a blank canvas perhaps and Max Ferguson’s “KATZS DELI” a photorealist painting of a short order cook at the counter of the famed delicatessen. New painting by Janet Rickus, RELATED BOWLS, gives a sense of the tools to be used - bowls of varying shapes and types are placed at the ready. Further, notice the four smaller vessels in this picture all appear to be variations of the two largest bowls. Eric Wert, Robert Jackson and Greg Haynes all have painted pieces of food all of which are painted lifesize or in a monumental scale. Popliteo’s sculpture ASPERAGUS BUNDLE is sole sculpture which depicts the oversized vegetables bound and standing tall. John Evans, Gardy Godbee and Eric Zener support the show with landscapes.
