Daniel Rozin is an artist, educator, and developer whose installations and sculptures change and respond to the presence and perspective of the viewer. His new kinetic installation, Trash Mirror (Edition 3), comprises 500 pieces of irregularly-shaped discarded objects salvaged from the artist’s pockets and New York City sidewalks. Computer controlled motors connected to each piece of refuse tilt the objects toward and away from a light source to physically build a picture plane based on a live video image of the viewer. Trash Mirror breaks traditional boundaries of sculpture and video, and examines notions of chaos, order, and perception.
Also on view is Darwinian Straw Mirror, 2010, which draws an evolving portrait of the viewer with thousands of randomly generated lines.
