This event has ended.

"The Art of Hope" spotlights magical handcrafted treasures from Africa brought to the U.S. by Simunye Trust, an organization dedicated to supporting pediatric health-care around the world, focused initially in Africa. Among the pieces on view in "The Art of Hope" is a menagerie of beaded animals. From cheetah to elephant and zebra, they range in size from miniature to virtually life-size and can adorn the home or safely be placed outdoors in garden or yard, or "on the terrace." These creatures enchant adults and children alike, and each tells a story of hope, compassion and unity. (Simunye is Zulu for "We are one.") The Simunye collection encompasses pieces representative of a variety African cultures, from traditional to contemporary. Also included in "The Art of Hope" are: elegant, intricately woven containers made of recycled copper wire; delightful patchwork teddy bears, each embellished with 20 different fabrics; and handmade vintage textiles, some of which have traditionally been used for ceremonial purposes.
