This event has ended.

RH Gallery presents Immortalize, featuring new works by Harry&Camila Studio as well as Fredrik Färg. The title of the exhibition refers to the immortalization of natural elements, forms and movements in their recent work. Harry&Camila Studio will present three textiles from their Encapsulated Nature series and Dr. Bubbles on the Rocks, a chair cast in aluminum. Fredrik Färg will unveil new stools and ottomans from his Succession series.

Harry&Camila Studio, based in Barcelona, was founded in 1998. Harry studied industrial design at the Design Academy Eindhoven and Camila studied fashion design at the Instituto Marangoni in Milan. The two met in 1994 while pursuing their Master’s degrees at the Domus Academy. The studio has won numerous commissions and awards including, for five years in a row, the prestigious Good Design award from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design. Harry&Camila Studio has designed for diverse clientele including Alessi, Dedon, Fontana Arte, Idee and Sputnik, JLindeberg+Puma, Living Divani, Moroso, Rosenthal Studio-Lin and Salviati.

Dr. Bubbles on the Rocks, conceived as a project for the Tenerife Design Festival, was inspired by the flowing forms and clouds created by Mount Teide, an active volcano situated in Tenerife, Canary Islands. The chair was originally constructed in Styrofoam which allowed them to shape unusual molten forms within the chair, later cast in aluminum. Encapsulated Nature is a textile collection incorporating organic and synthetic materials. Resin is used to encapsulate elements from nature including dried leaves, moss and flowers. Each element is carefully placed into blankets of resin immortalizing the specimens inside the textile.

Fredrik Färg is a young, Swedish designer based in Stockholm. His striking designs have garnered worldwide attention for a practice that is both whimsical and intelligent. Färg graduated from the HDK design college in Gothenburg, Sweden where he earned a Master’s degree in 2008. His thesis exhibition quickly placed him on the international design map. He has participated in Salone Satellite in Milan, Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, the Stockholm Furniture Fair and DMY-Allstars in Berlin. In 2010, he received Elle Deco’s Year’s Shooting Star Award; and in 2009, the Newcomer of the Year award in Sweden by Residence and PLAZA Magazine. Färg recently co- curated 20 designers at Biologiska, an exhibition featuring 20 young designers from 15 countries at the Biological Museum in Stockholm during Stockholm Design Week 2011.

Färg’s recent series of furniture entitled Succession is inspired by the forms and spirit of primates and hominids. The process of evolution and the development of an upright stance are mirrored within the work. Stools, chairs and ottomans are layered with an innovative composition of materials dressed with leather or textiles. The objects are tied in rope and then baked. Finally, the rope is removed but its imprints become indelible creases. This fantastical new series of furniture brings life into objects that are both beautiful and functional.
