Sequoyah Aono "Face to Face"
chashama Gallery (461 W 126th St.)
This event has ended.
Sequoyah Aono presents a collection of three-dimensional and relief works designed to be viewed from multiple angles and even touched. He is interested in how the multiple cultures In New York City mix and create an energy that is unique to this city. For those of us who live here, it is just a fact of daily life, but the artist sees it as the creation of positive energy that can help societies progress in healthy directions. The power that can exist between two people looking at each other is the inspiration behind this body of work. The artist, having looked at some of the millions of New York City residents, brings a version of a few of those people into the gallery for you to spend some time face to face.
This exhibit is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
