In Layers shows a variety of work depicting layers of all different mediums from water color and ink to velum string and fabric. Soo Im Lee paints people mingling through dense layers of words while Thomas Bevan’s sculptures have secret objects that are beautifully wrapped in many layers of colorful fabrics. Margie Neauhau’s sculptures and works on paper elicit magical and unsettling feelings of transit through unfamiliar worlds, allowing viewers to imagine what is under the surface, to assist our understanding of the world, and to see inside the layers and be within.
