This event has ended.

The Giacobetti Paul Gallery presents "Wax, Salt & Steel", new work by Alexa Williams.

Native New Yorker Alexa Williams has been contemplating and depicting landscapes for nearly 10 years using varied media including painting, collage and photography.

In "Wax, Salt & Steel", she uses only wax and salt to guide corrosion processes on 1/8" steel plates, creating massive, deconstructed landscapes inspired by the industrial waterfronts around her in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

Lonely and delicate horizons etched into the construction steel by corrosion, Williams' work explores ideas of strength and vulnerability. The pieces take the viewer to the edges of the city - abandoned warehouses, broken down piers and empty loading docks. The work is at once intimate and powerful; moments often overlooked of decaying beauty eroded into steel by the rust itself.
