This event has ended.

In this latest body of work, Kocks investigates the historical tradition of the artist's brushstroke. With his massive site-specific cut paper installations and his smaller scale watercolor and carved paperworks, Kocks recalls and celebrates this fundamental artistic element, by bringing new life to the idea of the brushstroke.

Kocks was born in Germany and earned and MFA in sculpture from the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 1989. He received a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant in 2006. His work has been featured in recent solo exhibitions, including "Momentray Suspension," Pei Ling Chan Gallery, SCAD Savannah and Trois Gallery, SCAD Atlanta, GA in 2011, "Scattered," Sebastian Fath Contemporary, Mannheim, Germany and "The Perfect Splash," Galerie Pfriem, SCAD, Lacoste, France in 2010. Kocks was also included in the 2009-10 group show "Slash: Paper Under the Knife" at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, NY.
