Amy Lien/Enzo Camacho "Café by the Ruins "
47 Canal
This event has ended.
The three components of this exhibition:
A set of ten photographs documenting the consumption of a traditional Filipino dish, champorado -- a chocolate rice porridge topped with cream and dried fish, commonly eaten for merienda (afternoon snack).
A set of six framed lenticular prints made from a series of paintings by Francis Picabia known as the espagnoles, produced from 1901 into the 1940s. The prints themselves are re-editions of a previous set of works, exhibited in 2009 at Green Papaya Art Projects, Quezon City, Philippines. In the current series, the prints have each been given a hand-treated matte, and one espagnole has been replaced by a jeune homme.
A wood sculpture commissioned from an artisan carver, Jayson Taguyungon, based in Baguio City, Philippines. The form of the sculpture is derived from a traditional Igorot warrior’s shield. The text carved onto its surface is composed of appropriated web-commentary following recently posted lectures by Gayatri Spivak.
