"50's and 60's Abstract Artists" Exhibition
Anita Shapolsky Gallery
This event has ended.
There has been a spontaneous revival of exhibitions of Abstract Expressionism since the MOMA show began in November. My suggestion would be to list all the galleries and invite the public to see as much of the work of these wonderful artists as possible. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the younger generations to see the art that made America the Mecca of a great art scene that has lasted almost 100 years and is still going strong. Viewers can discover, rediscover or simply re evaluate this art which I have been exhibiting since 1982.
This exhibition is a prime example of the different forms abstract art encompasses – from the differing degrees of hard edge painting with rhythmic energy, represented by Ilya Bolotowsky, Nassos Daphnis (died in December 2010 at the age of 96) and Michael Loew; to the Abstract Expressionistic style that dominated avant-garde art of America as shown in the works of the other artists in the exhibit.
